KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.24 g, 6 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left MI above crescent; below throne, monogram within wreath. HGC 9, 10f. Price 3756. SC 82.2d. Boldly struck and of fine Babylonian style, a beautiful piece. Good very fine.
